Article-33-UCP-600-Hours of Presentation
A bank has no obligation to accept a presentation outside of its banking hours.
A bank may have various banking hours based on particular centre for the presentation of documents and, accordingly, the presentation schedules must be examined for any evidence of compliance with such limitation.
Same time a bank may send a refusal notice on the fifth banking day until 11:59 PM, in case of query from presenter regarding preclusion, a bank may states that the working hours were till 12 PM at night for that particular processing Centre.
Example : A credit states expiry date as 06-Feb-20xx in country of bank “X” which is also latest date for presentation. A presentation was made at 6 PM on 06-Feb-20xx at the counter of bank X.
Bank “X” receives the presentation on the same day and qoute the discrepancies “late presentation” and "expired credit" stating that business hours was till 4 pm as per standard country time and the
presentation was received outside of its business hours.
Note: Ideally an expired credit is non-existent credit, however, practically banks consider this as one of the discrepancy.
